Just rode into manhattan and turned North to the traffic that IS perpetual.

The lights out our window the first night. It seemed somewhat daunting.
Four days later we would look out and see how "the Empire State Building is
just hiding behind that pointy building", and "that would be where Times Square is"
... and so on. The blury picture felt like how we felt the first night.

During much of our time the method of transportation was walking, as it was when shooting these
while traveling through Central park. This is the small lake near the south end of the park.

One of the walkways under the streets that cross the park. we walked half
the park without having to cross a street. Sometimes we went under... sometimes over.

Near the entrance in the area of John Lennon's Apartment, and scene of his murder,
is Strawberry Fields. While in the same area we stoped at the memorial mosaic placed in his honer.

The building behind us is City Hall. It is located at the foot of the pedestrian
ramp from the Brooklyn Bridge, which we had just walked across from the Brooklyn side.

Though we had been in Manhattan for over a day, we thought it was fun to
have traveled out and walked back into the heart of the city.

This was the most used method of getting around. It is a great system.
We want one of our own!!!.

Not such a crowd on this trip, as we were going out of Manhattan in the morning.
A couple of our trips were crowded enough to feel smashed, but not bad.

Although the Statue of Liberty was still closed while we were there, the boats
that usually took people there were running around the South end of Manhattan.
They were happy to be showing sites to tourist, as they had served as emergency ferries
to evacuate people fleeing the WTC site who were trapped on the river side of the site.

This was as close as we got. But the boat also allowed us to see both the
River side view of the site and a waterborne view of the Brooklyn Bridge as well.
